There is a Greater than 50% chance of a major winter storm
in the next several days |
| Winter Storm Warning |
Two or more winter events from a single storm can be
expected: Snow and Blowing Snow, Snow and Sleet, etc. The snow amount
will meet Heavy Snow criteria listed below. |
| Blizzard Warning |
Falling and/or blowing snow frequently reducing visibility to
less than 1/4 mile AND sustained winds or frequent gusts greater than 35 mph
will last for a least 3 hours. |
| Ice Storm Warning |
Freezing rain/drizzle is occurring with a significant
accumulation of ice (more than 1/4 inch) or accumlation of 1/2 inch of
sleet. (A very rare occurance across Southwest Idaho,
Southeast Oregon.) |
| Heavy Snow Warning |
In the mountainous areas
- 6 or more inches of snow in 12 hours,
or 10 or more inches of snow in 24 hours can be expected.
In the valley areas - 4 or more inches of
snow in 12 hours, or 6 or more inches of snow in 24 hours can be
expected. |
| Wind Chill Warning |
Wind chill
Temp less than or equal to -20 and wind greater than or equal to 10 mph.

will meet Snow Advisory criteria listed below. |
| Snow Advisory |
In the mountainous areas
- 3-6 inches of snow in 12 hours,
or 6-10 inches of snow in 24 hours can be expected.
In the valley areas 2-4 inches of snow in 12 hours,
or 4-6 inches of snow in 24 hours can be expected. |
| Snow and Blowing Snow Advisory |
Snow will be accompanied by wind (25 to 34 MPH) with occasional
visibility less than 1/4 mile. |
| Freezing Rain/Drizzle Advisory |
Light freezing rain or drizzle with little accumulation.
(A somewhat rare occurance across Southwest Idaho, Southeast Oregon.)
