Calculating the Clearing Index

Clearing Index = Mixing Height- ft AGL) x (Transport Wind Speed- kts) / 100

Example 1: Mixing Height ft AGL = 12000 ft AGL,Transport Wind Speed = 10 kts

Clearing Index = (12000) x (10) / 100

Clearing Index = 120000 / 100

Clearing Index = 1200

Example 2: Mixing Height ft AGL = 9600 ft AGL, Transport Wind Speed = 6 kts

Clearing Index = (9600) x (6) / 100

Clearing Index = 57600 / 100

Clearing Index = 576
