A STRONG SPRING STORM SYSTEM AFFECTED AREAS OF SOUTHEAST MONTANA
AND NORTHERN WYOMING BEGINNING THE AFTERNOON OF THURSDAY MAY 1. A
MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW DURING THE DAY BROUGHT MUCH NEEDED
MOISTURE TO THE REGION. THE RAIN CHANGED TO SNOW BY THE AFTERNOON
HOURS AND CONTINUED THROUGH THE NIGHT ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA.
HIGHER ELEVATIONS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST SAW THE GREATEST
ACCUMULATIONS WITH LESSER AMOUNTS IN RIVER AND STREAM VALLEYS.
WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES DUE TO HEAVY WET SNOW WERE ALSO REPORTED
ACROSS POWDER RIVER AND CARTER COUNTIES. THE BIG HORN MOUNTAINS
IN WYOMING ALSO RECEIVED HIGHER ACCUMULATIONS. THE FOLLOWING ARE
STORM TOTAL SNOW DEPTH AMOUNTS ACROSS THE AREA AS OF 10AM FRIDAY
MAY 2.
