Weather Story

This graphic shows average, earliest and latest first occurrences of various temperatures at Billings through the fall and winter. For example, if you find the middle of November on the vertical axis, follow the line across until it intersects the red line. This corresponds to temperatures in the mid teens, meaning in mid November we "normally" see our first occurrence of mid teens. If you are curious when we typically first hit zero degrees, find zero on the horizontal axis, and follow the line up until it intersects the red line. By doing this you can see we normally first reach zero about 1-2 weeks into December, and the record earliest such occurrence is late October (green line).
