Spotter Training in Willits on May 17, 2008
The National Weather Service will conduct a Severe Weather Spotter Training Seminar
on May
17 2008 between 12 noon and 2 pm. The training
will be held at the Howard
Ranger Station, 5 miles south-southeast of Willits on Highway 101. Traveling
south on
Highway 101, the ranger station will be located on the left side of the road. The seminar
will be held in
the training facility located in the rear of the ranger complex.
The training is designed to serve as a refresher for existing spotters and initial training for
anyone
interested in becoming a Severe Weather Spotter.
A Severe Weather Spotter is a volunteer who assists the National Weather Service by
reporting any severe or significant weather as outlined in established guidelines. These
weather reports, along with radar and satellite data, enable the National Weather Service
to issue accurate and timely warnings and advisories for our forecast area.
