Damage thus far Poplar

  • Airport roof on two hangers
  • Shingles and antennas on some homes just east of the airport
  • Measured 86 mph wind at the Poplar RAWS site

Poplar to Brockton

  • Not one tree that is over 25 feet tall was left undamaged. All homes in the area had some sort of roof damage.
  • Some crop damage…intermittent.
  • Sprole Grain Bin blown into the Grain Elevator there.

Brockton

  • Grain Elevator suffered significant structural damage
  • Many structures with damage to roofs...shingles mostly but in some cases even the plywood
  • At least 6 grain bins blown over…others with damage
  • County Commissioner lost the west side of the roof of his home 2SW Brockton
  • BNSF train derailed 9 cars 1 mile east Brockton. Wind estimated to be at least 113 mph.

Fort Kipp

  • Two homes (one in Fort Kipp, another on the old highway to Brockton) with roof damage down to the plywood.
  • Several other homes, mainly on the west side of town with shingle damage.

Culbertson

  • Significant damage to nearly every tree in town.
  • Many homes with shingle or siding peeled off.
  • One home with an entire roof loss and garage destroyed.

Froid

  • Significant tree damage
  • Some grain bins blown over
  • Significant crop damage with crop blown down.
  • Grain Elevator in town has some metal siding peeled off. It was also shifted slightly. Structural integrity is being evaluated.
  • Measured 107 mph gust 6ENE Froid

Summary

  • Rough estimate of damages:
  • ~25-50 homes/structures with significant roof damage and exposed to the outside
  • ~300-500 structures/homes with shingle damage
  • ~5,000 trees damaged
  • 3 Grain Elevators with damage (Brockton, Sprole and Froid)
