2008 Summer Weather Spotter Training Schedule
The National Weather Service will be holding classes for those interested in becoming Severe Weather Spotters.
Topics to be covered include an explanation of the weather patterns that affect the area during summer, the basics of thunderstorm and tornado development, and severe weather warnings issued by the NWS.
All members of the general public are invited to attend and the NWS will be recruiting new weather spotters. There is no cost for this class. If you have questions about this volunteer program, please contact Ryan Sandler at the NWS in Medford at (541) 776-4303 or email ryan.sandler@noaa.gov.
Locations and times:
Merlin, OR.:
On Tuesday, May 6th, Ryan Sandler from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford will present a summer weather spotter training class between 7:00 and 9:00 pm at the Search and Rescue Building in Merlin located in the North Valley Industrial Park at 250 Tech Way.
Dorris, CA.:
On Thursday, May 8th, Mike Petrucelli from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford will present a summer weather spotter training class between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at the Butte Valley Library in Dorris, California. The library is located at 800 W. Third Street.
Talent, OR:
On Tuesday, May 13th, Mike Petrucelli from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford will present a summer weather spotter training class between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at the Talent Library located at 101 Home Street.
Christmas Valley, OR:
On Thursday, May 22nd, Ryan Sandler from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford will present a summer weather spotter training class between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at the Christmas Valley Community Center located in Christmas Valley.
