February Report
February started out with a very strong wind event on the 2nd. A relatively dry cold front swept through the Missoula County Warning Area during the late night and early morning hours, producing wind gusts up to 70 mph from Stevensville to Florence. The strong winds caused damage to some home roofs. Some trees were blown down as well as a semi trailer. A freezing rain event on the 6th brought very icy conditions to the Kalispell area, where ice accumulations were close to a quarter of an inch. The rest of the month was relatively quiet until heavy snow returned to the region on February 26. Heavy snow fell over a good portion of northwest Montana with 6 to 8 inches received in the valleys, locally up to 12 inches in Libby, 14 inches at Big Fork and up to 16 inches at Lookout Pass.
Welcome
This webpage is a place for the National Weather Service in Missoula to communicate with spotters. From time to time updates will be made to this page with upcoming events, summaries of past weather events, or any public events we may have participated in. Hopefully this will also offer a more in depth explaination of some of the events that don't really have a place anywhere else on our website.
