California Hazardous Weather Awareness Week

National Weather Service’s 3rd Annual California Hazardous Weather Awareness Week
September 21-26

The week of September 21st through the 26th has been designated Hazardous Weather Awareness Week for the State of California . This is an excellent time for all individuals…families…businesses….schools….radio and television stations to review their hazardous weather preparedness plans. It is especially important for all new arrivals to the state to become familiar with the National Weather Service Watch and Warning definitions as well as weather safety procedures.

Each day of the week of September 21st we will highlight particular weather hazards and/or dissemination information:

  • Monday - Severe Weather
  • Tuesday - Floods and Flash Floods
  • Wednesday - NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards
  • Thursday - Excessive Heat
  • Friday - Coastal Weather/Winter Storms
  • Saturday - Wildfires
