Cold & Wet Spring 2011

If you've been thinking that this Spring has been cold and wet in the Inland Northwest, you're not wrong. But the pattern actually extended over a much larger portion of the United States.

Temperatures

  • The entire northwest US from Wisconsin to California was colder than normal.
  • Most of the southern and eastern states were warmer than normal.
  • Washington had its 3rd coldest March-May ever out of 117 years of records.
  • Oregon had its 5th coldest March-May.
  • Texas had its 2nd hottest March-May

Precipitation

  • Washington and Wyoming had their wettest March-May ever in 117 years of records.
  • Oregon and Montana had their 2nd wettest March-May ever.
  • Idaho and Utah had their 5th wettest March-May ever.
  • The states from Kentucky up through Vermont also had their wettest March-May ever.
  • Texas had it's driest March-May ever.
  • New Mexico and Louisiana had their 3rd and 6th driest March-May respectively.
