According to preliminary data received by NOAA's National Weather Service in Pendleton Oregon, temperatures at Pendleton airport averaged much warmer than normal during the month of February.
The average temperature was 44.0 degrees which was 5.4 degrees above normal. High Temperatures averaged 53.6 degrees, which was 6.8 degrees above normal. The highest was 66 degrees on the 6th. Low temperatures averaged 34.4 degrees, which was 4.1 degrees above normal. The lowest was 19 degrees, on the 23rd.
There were 8 days with the low temperature below 32 degrees.
Precipitation totaled 0.83 inches during February, which was 0.28 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation -at least .01 inch- was received on 11 days with the heaviest, 0.29 inches reported on the 9th.
Precipitation this year has reached 1.55 inches, which is 0.99 inches below normal. Since October, the water year precipitation at Pendleton airport has been 6.25 inches, which is 0.29 inches below normal.
The highest wind gust was 59 mph which occurred on the 6th. There was 1 day when the wind exceeded 50 mph.
The outlook for March from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for near to above normal temperatures and near to below normal precipitation. Normal highs for Pendleton airport rise from 51.0 degrees at the start of March to 59.0 degrees at the end of March. Normal lows rise from 32.0 degrees to 38.0 degrees. The 30 year normal precipitation is 1.32 inches.
