The National Weather Service (NWS) remains committed to providing our constituents with warnings and forecasts of the highest quality. Issues identified and discussed with our constituents will help us determine how to best use our resources for meeting future priorities.

Portland Forecast Office Information
The National Weather Service (NWS) provides weather, hydrologic, and climate forecasts and warnings for the United States, its territories, adjacent waters and ocean areas, for the protection of life and property and the enhancement of the national economy. The NWS office in Portland is responsible for 14 counties in northwest Oregon and 5 in southwest Washington.

Northwest River Forecast Center Information
The NWS Northwest River Forecast Center (NRFC) is one of 13 Centers nation wide to provide river, flood and water supply forecasts in support of saving lives and property and to enhance the economy and environment of the country. The NRFC is responsible for the entire Columbia River Basin, including the Snake and Willamette River Basins, and Coastal Rivers along the Oregon and Washington Coast.
