Rain showers will move into the area during the day today and periods of heavy rain are possible this morning through afternoon/evening across southeast California, southwest and south-central Arizona. The areas highlighted in green (along and north of Interstate 10 and US 60 in Arizona and Interstates 10 and 8 across southeast California) are the most likely to see locally heavy rain during this time period and some spots could see 1 to almost 2 inches of rain by the time the storm exits the area. Part One of the Flood Watch covers southeast California, southwest and western AZ this afternoon through Monday afternoon. Part Two of the Flood Watch covers south-central Arizona, including the Phoenix Metropolitan area from Midnight through Monday evening. Normally dry washes may start running and low lying areas may experience high water and minor flooding. This rainfall event will result in several round or hours of steady rain across these areas...with embedded heavier showers/thunderstorms. If you live in a normally flood prone area, be particularly cautious if you have to travel across the region today. (click for more)
