Mr. Roland L. Hansen, observer in Fairfield, Utah, was presented the Thomas Jefferson Award in a small ceremony at the observer’s residence in Fairfield. Larry Dunn, MIC, Salt Lake City, presented the award to Mr. Hansen. Steve Summy, OPL, Salt Lake City, Susan Nelson, Western Region Cooperative Program Manager, and Mr. Hansen’s daughter Marie Cook attended the ceremony. Roland is an outstanding observer and will reach 58 years of service this year. Mr. Hansen was also presented a nice jacket with his name and “National Weather Service Cooperative Observer” custom embroidered onto the front of the jacket. Fairfield is a small town in northern Utah about 25 to 30 miles west of Provo. Roland was a Holm award recipient in 1987 & most recently received the Stoll award in 2003, & the Franklin award in 2008. |
