Introduction

The National Weather Service Salt Lake City Products and Services Guide was created as a summary of what the forecast office can provide to the user. Its twelve sections detail the wide variety of routine and non-routine products that the office issues, and also includes information about National Weather Service programs that aid in the protection of life and property. The table of contents below gives more information about each section.

An Introduction to VTEC - Details on the code used to identify and track products issued by the National Weather Service.

Hazardous Weather (Watches, Warnings, and Advisories) - An introduction to "READY...SET...GO!", the three-tiered approach that the NWS uses to disseminate information about hazardous weather.

Routine Weather - A summary of the routine products issued by your local NWS office along with information about the computer programs that aid forecasters in creating those products.

Aviation Weather Forecasts - A brief discussion of the aviation-related products issued by your local NWS office.

Hydrologic Forecast Products - Information about the hydrologic products issued by the NWS, along with an introduction to the Colorado Basin River Forecast Center and the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service.

Fire Weather - What you need to know about the Salt Lake City NWS's Fire Weather program, including a summary of the routine and non-routine products issued, and details about the zones that make up the Fire Weather Forecast Area.

NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards - The coverage area of this all-hazards public warning system, along with information about the types of messages it broadcasts.

StormReady - Information about a program designed to make sure your community is prepared for severe weather.

Climate - A summary of climate products produced by your local NWS office as well as those produced by regional and national centers.
