NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR)
NWR is an all-hazards public warning system. The NWS uses it to broadcast forecasts, warnings and emergency information 24 hours a day directly to the public. NWR broadcasts can be monitored across most of Utah and southwestern Wyoming. Weather radios are available at retail electronic outlets nationwide, in marine supply stores, and online. For a more comprehensive look at the NWR network, visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr.
An “All Hazards” message may be due to threats that are:
- Natural (e.g., tornado, hurricane, floods, earthquakes)
-Non-weather Related (e.g., chemiscal release, oil spill, train derailments, AMBER alerts, and terrorist attacks).
The Salt Lake City National Weather Service Forecast Office maintains 14 NWR transmitters in Utah and one in Evanston, WY. Additionally, the Grand Junction, CO office maintains 3 transmitters in Utah in Moab, Monticello, and Vernal. The name, call sign, location, frequency, and power of each of these 18 transmitters is displayed in the map and chart below. Click on a site's name in the table to see its location in the map, or click on a point on the map to see information about the transmitter.
