  1. 1982-1983 El Nino Storms : 36 dead, 481 injured, 1.2 billion in economic losses.

  2. 1975-77 Drought: No significant rain for two years, 31 counties declared a disaster area, 2.7 billion in economic losses.

  3. October 1991 Oakland Hills Fire: 25 dead, 150 injured, 1.7 billion in economic losses.

  4. January 1913 Freeze: Temperatures dropped to 10 degrees F in some areas, Coldest nights ever record in the state. Losses not available.

  5. 1997 New Years Flood: 8 dead, 23,000 homes destroyed, 1.8 billion in economic losses.

  6. March 1964 Tsunami Flooding: 14 dead, 16 million in economic losses just in Del Norte County, several north coast towns completely wiped out.

  7. October 1993 Firestorms: 4 dead, 162 injured, 1 billion in economic losses, Santa Ana winds helped fuel multiple fires in Southern California.

  8. March 1907 and January 1909 Floods: Significant flooding on all major rivers in the Sacramento Valley. 300,000 acres were flooded. Losses not available.

  9. December 1977 Southern San Joaquin Valley Wind Storm: 3 dead, 40 million in economic losses. Winds were estimated at 192 mph near Arvin, California. Wind buried cars in sand and dimmed the sun.

  10. 1969 Winter Storms and Floods: 47 dead, 300 million dollars in economic losses. Extended rain fell across the state with forty counties declared a disaster area.
