Experimental grid-based ECCDA products available from the links below are for customer review of
format only , not content. Fire agency users located in the regions covered by
the dispatch areas listed below should comment directly to the National
Weather Service Office in Medford Oregon at Mfr.Eccda@noaa.gov.
Unlike the current ECCDA product, this experimental “grid-derived ECCDA” generates text suitable for
radio broadcasts directly from the digital forecast database produced at each NWS office.
Formatters to produce the forecasts are run at 9 am and 4 pm for dispatch areas in Siskiyou,
Modoc, Del Norte, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Mendocino, and Tehama Counties in California.
The formatters utilize the NWS meteorologist-produced digital database from the NWS offices
in Medford, Reno, Sacramento, and Eureka to create the text forecast. This forecast provides
fire weather information for dispatch areas in a radio-friendly narrative format.
As always, if more detail is required, the
Fire Weather Zone Forecast should be used.
A spot forecast should always be requested for wildfires,
prescribed burns and other activities as outlined in the AOP.
More information is available in the the
ECCDA Product Description
Document. The experimental ECCDA products on this page do not
include any Red Flag information.
Please return to the main North ECCDA page for any current
