Southeast Arizona Drought Monitoring

Preliminary May precipitation data will be posted by June 15th

Drought conditions update (as of May 6th) - For the period April 30th thru May 6th, an upper level low moved through the area on the 6th and brought very isolated light showers, with little measureable rain being recorded. Otherwise the past week was breezy and dry. No changes were made on this weeks National Drought Monitor map. Abnormally dry conditions exits across much of the area, with moderate drought conditions in western Pima county and across Santa Cruz and Cochise counties. Long term drought conditions persist across the region with LARGE multi-year precipitation deficits to overcome.

Outlook through May 13th. Dry during the outlook period with above normal temperatures. For the latest forecast information, please check out the forecast discussion from NWS Tucson. The next update to drought conditions across southeast Arizona will be during the week of May 13th.
