Weather Forecast OfficeFXUS65 KFGZ 251007 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 307 AM MST Tue May 25 2021 .SYNOPSIS...Expect a period of quiet weather with warm temperatures and afternoon southwest breezes from today through the end of the week. For the weekend, southwest winds look to increase with the potential for critical fire weather conditions. && .DISCUSSION...Light southwest breezes and warm temperatures are forecast for Tuesday. High level cloud cover will start to increase through the afternoon and evening as a plume of subtropical moisture aloft moves in from the Pacific. This looks to really hurt our chances of catching the Flower Blood Moon Eclipse Wednesday morning. A few areas may catch a quick glimpse of the beginning of the eclipse just after midnight. However, by 4 AM when the peak is set to occur, most of us will be looking at overcast skies. On the bright side, the cloud cover will keep our overnight lows from bottoming out as they have the past few mornings. Locations along the Mogollon Rim, Coconino Plateau, and near the White Mountains will see lows in the mid to upper 30s with lower elevation areas in the upper 40s to mid 50s. On Wednesday afternoon, a shortwave disturbance will pass by our area bringing a slight increase in southwest winds for the afternoon. All in all, not expecting anything too crazy with temperatures remaining steady. Temperatures will warm a few more degrees on Thursday and Friday with more afternoon breezes. For the weekend, we continue to see the likely return of stronger southwest winds and periods of critical fire weather as a low forms off the coast of California. Models continue to differ on the strength and placement of this feature. We will continue to keep an eye on this in the coming days. && .AVIATION...For the 12Z package...VFR conditions will prevail through the next 24 hours. Light winds becoming S to SW 10-15 kts this afternoon. Look for increasing high clouds this evening. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments. && .FIRE WEATHER...A period of warm, dry and breezy weather can be expected through the week. Afternoon humidity will remain less than 10 to 15 percent with the Haines Index reaching 5 to 6 for many areas in the afternoon. Thursday through Saturday...Little change is anticipated with dry and warm conditions continuing. Breezy southwest winds each afternoon with slightly stronger speeds possible over the weekend. && .FGZ WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...NONE. && PUBLIC...ET AVIATION...MCT FIRE WEATHER...MCT For Northern Arizona weather information visit weather.gov/flagstaff
