  Area Forecast Discussion
  National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ
  243 PM MST Sun May 23 2021

.SYNOPSIS...Another cold morning Monday will quickly warm for a
very nice day across the area. Expect light breezes Monday and
Tuesday, becoming breezy southwest winds Wednesday into the
weekend. Look for cool mornings and mild afternoon temperatures
  through the coming week.

.DISCUSSION...Satellite imagery shows the low pressure system to
the north continuing to move northeast into Montana. Winds around
the area have been mostly light and variable this afternoon with a
few gusts to near 20 mph. Skies are clear across the state except
for a few altocumulus along the Utah border. With the very dry
atmosphere over the region tonight, expect another cold morning
Monday, only a few degrees warmer than today. Monday will warm to
about five degrees over today`s highs and Tuesday will warm yet
another five degrees to about the seasonal average for the area.
For the rest of the week, temperatures remain near normal as a
series of troughs pass to the north, preventing a ridge from
setting up over the Southwest, Winds will be mostly light through
Tuesday, but will become breezy southwest afternoon winds
Wednesday through the rest of the week. Models indicate another
cutoff low forming off the southern California Coast over the
weekend to give us gusty southwest winds going into next week.
Confidence is low on where this low/trough will set up. If it
slides east, more over Southern California, northern Arizona will
see strong south to southwest winds Saturday through Monday much
like we had this past Thursday through Saturday. We will keep a
close eye on this as it develops. Stay tuned for updates. In the
mean time, it will be a beautiful week to get outside with mild
temperature, generally light winds and sunny skies.

driven upslope breezes with gusts to 15 kts over the higher
terrain. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments.

breezes Tuesday. Conditions remain very dry with RH values in the
single digits and warming temperatures through Tuesday.
